Donor FAQ

Is my donation to Drop Site tax deductible?

Yes (in the United States). Contributions to Drop Site News, which is fiscally sponsored by Social Security Works Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization (tax id number 46-1500551), are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Do I need to have a paid subscription or contribute financially to access your reporting?

No! We believe that journalism is a public service that should be freely available to all. Our reporting will always be free to the public, but paid subscriptions and donations from our readers make that  possible. Paid subscriptions will give you early access to podcasts, live and virtual events, AMAs, and our comment section.

If a monthly or annual commitment is too much right now, you can consider making a one-time tax deductible contribution to Drop Site. If you cannot afford to support us financially at this time, we would love for you to become a free subscriber and spread the word.

What is Drop Site’s relationship with Social Security Works Education Fund?

As we apply for 501(c)(3) status, our fiscal sponsor is Social Security Works Education Fund. Our fiscal sponsor allows us to receive tax deductible contributions. SSWEF has no editorial relationship with Drop Site. You can find Social Security Works Education Fund’s Guidestar profile here
