How is there a difference between Nazism and Zionism? That one would lead to the other is counterintuitive. But the two now seem to be one and the same and the US is complicit in its support. So one might wonder if the US is still a democracy. A corporation with a CEO, the DNC decides who its candidates will be. Some states, such as Florida, didn’t even have a primary. And yet, Americans are told that to protect their own self interests they must align with the party enabling genocide. The irony is rich. Musk seems as adept running Tesla into the ground as he is propping up authoritarianism.

There is no difference between Nazism and militant Zionism. The Zionism that was encouraged after WWII would not have been a problem if the people living in what was then Palestine -- the Palestinians -- had been taken into consideration and treated properly. Many of them were nomads, and they were given the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. If that had been honored, no one, including they, would have complained. I have said before that I was born Jewish, but I eventually gave it up because 1) there's no such thing as "god," so I don't have the entry criterion to identify with any religion, and the Jews are seemingly single-mindedly focused on the Holocaust and other remote (centuries and millennia ago) experiences of victimization. It is as if being Jewish means being a victim. A holiday called Passover is all about recognizing the mistreatment of other people, which the Jews then don't do (they don't recognize it or avoid doing it). The "Superbowl" of Jewish holidays -- Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement -- is their opportunity to recognize and try to correct their faults, which they also don't do.

The USA is not a democracy. It was envisioned to be one, but because of the peculiar campaigning ritual, that is protracted and requires extreme amounts of money, the USA is a plutocracy. The largest donors tell the candidates what they intend to be buying with their donations, and they expect to get it. Which they do. Even, as we have been seeing, when the government officials they buy are SCOTUS justices. They even write some of the bills their chattel pass for them. American government has little to do with the public/voters.

I should add that the Nazis talked about the "final solution" to the Jewish problem, and decades of Israelis have talked about the "final solution" to the Palestinian problem. And the solutions are not quite identical, but they're close.

I see nothing fascist about wanting secure borders and meritocracy. If we can’t even agree on things as basic and essential as this then how is it possible to have a country? We lack a common reality, have become incomprehensible to each other and can no longer communicate. Where is the common ground in such an infinitely wide divide? There obviously is none. We always just talk past each other. This can only get worse and is getting worse by the day.

Open borders and the war on meritocracy which is being replaced by Equity aka Equal Outcomes are not “misinformation.” You’re a good example of why America is a failed state in rapid decline. And the world knows it since they see it online every day just as easily as we do.

“Editor’s Note: America is at war. This is not a traditional war, fought on a battlefield against an external enemy. It is a civilizational conflict against an internal enemy: the group quota regime, a revolutionary threat that seeks to reorganize American society around the principle of outcome equality — what the regime’s partisans call “equity.”

“This cold civil war may go unnoticed by many day-to-day, but its stakes are often as high as life and death. Here, Roger B. Cohen, a celebrated oncologist and professor in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, explains how the group quota regime has taken hold of the American medical education system and asks urgent questions about the consequences for medicine, for the sick, and for the country.”

Substack really needs to make some new tools to control whose comments you see.

There are a half dozen attention starved people on every substack that clog up the comments with nonsense.

I don't believe these comments should be censored by the government, but I also think I should be able to not have to wade through them to get to the things I want to read.

I agree that Israel is engaging in genocide/ethnic cleansing. That’s why I subscribed to Ryan’s Substack. I follow people like John Mearsheimer, Glenn Greenwald and Jeffrey Sachs who do an excellent job of explaining the past history and present reality of Ukraine and Gaza. I do not agree with Ryan that Trump is a grave danger to democracy and that his supporters are racist white trash too stupid to realize they’re supporting a fascist dictator. I totally agree with Tulsi. Christopher Wray is an example of the intense hatred of Trump by many in our worthless government and it’s also an example of why Tulsi is now so deeply hated by the democrats and why they decided she needs to be put on a terrorist watchlist. In what sense does America even still exist as a country?

For 76 years, this has been a standard Israeli practice. When we say Israel is evil, people think we are exaggerating. The truth is Israel is worse than evil; it is hell.

Unfortunately the complex history of the break up of Palestine by UK with US via the Balfour declaration etc isn't widely understood. I was lucky enough over 20 yrs ago in Australia to meet a friend who had travelled to Palestine and she opened my eyes to the atrocious living conditions of Palestinians, and the history of illegal Israeli control. I'm also hoping more independent informative media will open eyes and bring about positive change.

What the Palestinians have to go through is just awful. Every day is lawless where the bully Apartheid Occupier meets out the punishment as revenge against the innocent Palestinians, daily in its many forms. This evil occupation hell must end and all those perpetrators must be held to account. Those that were complicit need also to be held to account. We have to hope and pray. Truth and goodness must triumph.

“Our condition is forever precarious; even basic human decency can shatter and vanish in an instant.”

Simon Leys is by no means obscure—much of his work is still in print, and he was the subject of a major biography by Philippe Paquet entitled Simon Leys: Navigator between Worlds. But he deserves greater recognition as an analyst of totalitarianism, not least for the way in which he built upon Czesław Miłosz’s warning: “The man of the East cannot take Americans seriously because they have never undergone the experiences that teach men how relative their judgments and thinking habits are. Their resultant lack of imagination is appalling… If something exists in one place, it will exist everywhere.” To this, Leys added (in the Los Angeles Times of all places): “The everyday order of our lives may seem to us natural and permanent, but it is in fact as fragile and illusory as the cardboard props on a theatrical stage: It can collapse in a flash and turn at once into black horror. Our condition is forever precarious; even basic human decency can shatter and vanish in an instant.”

“History does not repeat itself, but ideas do.”

“Maoism had unique traits but Leys nonetheless always saw it as a member of what he called the “great totalitarian family”—ideologies produced by patterns of thought found across human societies, from tiny shipwrecked pre-Enlightenment microcosms to vast 20th century nations.”

Some excerpts below from a Quillette review of a book about the irrational side of human nature. The last one says: “One comes away with the sense that civilization operates on narrow margins and is always on the verge of collapsing into irrationality.” That sure is the truth. Are we in a “Dark Age” where reason is in retreat? Certainly does seem so.

“Mackay makes the case, often in gory detail, that episodes of collective mania seem to be an inevitable consequence of human nature. Humans in every time and place have cast aside their better judgment and allowed themselves to be caught up in all manner of irrational hoopla.“

“His chapters on the Swabian Peasants’ War and Anabaptist uprisings are terrifying depictions of the end-times frenzy that wreaked havoc on northern Europe throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. The distance between these events in the German-speaking world and, say, the Reign of Terror in France or the Chinese Cultural Revolution is not that great. And the speed with which apparently reasonable people moved from the embrace of a new theological idea to a willingness to torture those whose own theological ideas diverged even slightly is startling.“

“There is plenty to recommend about The Delusions of Crowds. It is laden with great anecdotes and the writing is always engaging. One comes away with the sense that civilization operates on narrow margins and is always on the verge of collapsing into irrationality.”

For better and worse, we are an emotionally driven species. Rationality just comes in to justify, maybe explain, our decisions. Love operates this way, too. Talk about rationality is stupid, IMO. (That's an emotional response)

I feel very uneasy about this, but I follow three Substack accounts: Qasim Rashid's, Ryan Grim's (this one), and Jeremy Scahill's. Anyone who doubts empire caters to the psychopathic greed of the elite at this point is not paying attention. Musk thinks South America's resources belong to empire because of some colonizer president from 200yrs ago (Monroe). "We'll coup whoever we want. Deal with it" Likewise anyone that still believes this country was ever "equal under the law," or even a democracy, has their head in sand.

The duopoly has been attacking inalienable and constitutional rights since the Patriot Act. Who wrote that shit, again? Oh, yeah.

And look at Europe now, a "Free World" without free speech is just some elite-enforced fascism. :(

Article on the Chicago police blog “Second City Cop” below about the Democratic Convention here next week. Looks like it’s going to be a disaster. This is why nobody wants to be a cop anymore in cites like Chicago. Fat chance of it ever getting any better.

Interesting Rumors.

The comments are alive with a number of rumors:

* Smart officers are hitting the medical. 1500 as of this morning. (seems like an awfully high number - who has the actual manpower?)

* District Commanders were instructed by Larry not to list white shirts who hit the medical on their watch sheets. Doing so would encourage blue shirts to hit the medical as well. (well who would want to stick around when your leaders aren't sticking around?)

* The bosses are now running around like pissed-on chickens. The issued gas masks ran out weeks ago. The Feds and National Guard are preparing to sit this out and hide. If this DNC goes down without dozens of CPD getting seriously hurt it will be a miracle. (the equipment issue should have been addressed the day after they announced Chicago was hosting - update helmets, eye wear, everything.)

* You heard it here first … the powers that be have decided that [COPA] going to put up 13 tents around the UC and those tents will be accepting complaints against the police. Fuck this city , fuck the Dems , do not jeopardize your job for anyone. (sadly, very believable - don't get trick-bagged)

And after the pro-pali protestors stormed the Harris-Walz meeting in New York yesterday, does anyone think Chicago is going to escape any sort of similar demostration?

“If you’ll be in Chicago next week for the DNC, we’re hosting a watch party on Wednesday evening. RSVP if you can make it.”

I live in Chicago so I’ll be here. A once beautiful city by the lake which is now in the process of being destroyed by city-wide black wilding, crime and carjacking plus an endless flood of illegals, I think it’s up to 50,000 now, who are being supported with hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer money. What do democrats think of the ever worsening social breakdown in cities like Chicago? They don’t think anything of it. They’re too busy waging war on Trump/MAGA, waging war on meritocracy which is being replaced with Equity aka Equal Outcomes, and with taking care of their beloved illegals who don’t even belong here. No society can survive this level of stupidity and flat out insanity. Only God knows what fate has in store for our fallen world and for our rotting country as we slide ever closer to the abyss.
