Pissing off the worst people in the world by saying true things? My money went to the right place.

Imran Khan was a populist, plain and simple. I call this, "Pakistani Lawfare"...and I believe others have intimated the CIA was all over this one. Kudos for ticking off all the King's men, but beware of odd clicking on your phone. Thanks for making waves in the ever-so-corrupt Brazilian judiciary. It is common, I guess. Glenn Greenwald's partner was involved in grassroots movements, which got him arrested, jailed, fined and harassed. They'll probably start yanking US passports before you deplane. The crackdown on truth to power is spreading like a virus. I really love what you're doing and do keep being the gadfly I know you both can be!

User supported news sites. What a concept and what results are coming in! Thank you, and thanks to the Internet for bringing this to we the people. All of us must make a concerted effort to keep the Internet from being caged by authorities around the world, the US not least of all.

In the Spring of 1969, I wrote about the advantages of user-supported versus ad-supported news for my senior comprehensive exam in Government. Ad-supported news has turned out to be even worse than I imagined then.

And attempts were made to provide local news both in print and with low power radio but nothing could take off until the Internet linked everyone together to provide a huge viewer/listener base and with that a potentially huge subscriber base. It really is a miracle of communications.

A shout out from Philly. Americaduff here. As I approach my 70th birthday I reflect on how I first discovered democracy. As a 14 year old high school student in 1969. I attended a trade school, Jules Mastbaum studying to become a draftsman. Also at the same time the Vietnam war was raging. I began to start seeing myself drafted into the military. Frightening stuff for a teenager. Getting back to my discovery of democracy.

I began to start following the news. Back then war correspondents were freely reporting from Vietnam.

Those reports taught me many things among them to not trust my own government. Democracy has been with me ever since. You guys at Drop Site give me hope that true democracy will prevail. I thank you for your service to democracy. As Leonard Cohen said, everything has a crack in it, that’s how the light gets in!
