I have been appalled by the actions of Israel during this conflict which reach new heights of inhumanity each day. Surely the Israeli people do not really believe these are justified, or will cause Palestinians to be open to protecting the state of Israel in the future. Besides the loss of respect in the international community, someday Americans like me will think twice about supporting what amount to crimes against humanity and international law. I hope that day comes soon before we have a full war in the Middle East.

Right. But, there are few Americans who give a damn. From what I have learned over the past year+, the Israeli people DO really believe these cruelties are justified. They can't rid "their" country of these millions of Palestinians fast enough. The Israelis are actually guests or invaders of this land. They sit back and enjoy their meals while people they share a country with are starving. Children are starving which will stunt their lives forever (if they live).

Palestine is my line in the sand, so to speak when it comes to the upcoming election. Since only Jill Stein has stood up to the pro-Israel genocide of which neither Trumpnor Harris dares to speakI will vote for Stein with deep appreciation for her courage and compassion.

This has been unfolding for over a year with no change of course from this administration and Congress as a whole. The US, now an indelible stain on humanity. Genocide as it was intended from the beginning with one convicted felon candidate wanting to finish the job and the other, implicit in what has occurred, claiming to save democracy. This is what a democracy does?

Dear friends sit here in tears over Kareem and little Hind Rajab...10 and 6 years old...and there are thousands and thousands just like them...children who just want to play! I read your heartfelt posts, all expressing the same grief and bewilderment that such blatant cruelty can be wrought by humans on other humans...(here I must acknowledge the murder of Israelis Oct. 7th 2023 too...but the suppressed rage of generations of brutally oppressed people probably led to unplanned chaos, the purpose I think was the capture of hostages to barter the release of Palestinian prisoners...be that as it may I believe any nation that had endured decade upon decade of barbaric occupation would have done the same...did not the British slit the throats (and often glorify this in films (while the "audience" munches popcorn) of German guards at dams in Norway and elsewhere? Why? Because they didn't much like the idea of being occupied and under the heel of evil oppressors. To me it seems that the Palestinians are one of the noblest of all nations...witness the unimaginable conditions levied upon them and still they struggle to rescue and assist the victims of the latest atrocity whilst fully aware that they in the greatest danger themselves because the cowardly occupation army targets the rescuers. When I began this comment I meant to thank all the good people who encourage and enlighten me...though in truth nothing can assuage the utter feeling of helplessness that we all share. Little Hind was murdered in cold blood by some bastard(s)..some indoctrinated Israeli thug(s)..young Kareem although terribly injured could have been saved. The repugnant Israelis don't permit medical evacuations because the world will see what they do and they attempt to conceal and then vomit their outrageous lies This deep shame will eat away at them but they will void their self-hatred on others, even innocent children.

There were countless murders of Palestinians by the Zionists before October 7. Countless. And anyone else who was in the way.

Yes Gogs...the greatest antisemites are the Israelis; they hate themselves. Certainly a "chosen people"...chosen to be awful.

Sharon had to resign for the massacres he was accountable for in Lebanon, but now the propaganda that everything began with Oct. 7, instead of 1948 and the continued land grab has been very effective. The US would never have had 9/11 if Israel were a democracy, yet at our peril we continue to sign a blank check to a country that thumbs its nose at us and has caused the worst humanitarian crisis in recent times. Sadly, it's about who runs our foreign policy.

Francesca Albanese from UN giving a latest report on Palestine. Covers a lot incl request for UN to suspend Israel, suggestion for UN peace force established on return of Palestinians to occupied territories when(?) Israel withdraws, and Knesset bill to restrict UNRWA medical/humanitarian work in Gaza/West Bank.

A Scahill/Cogan article posted 22 Oct discussed US/Israeli business of Moti Kahana privatising aid delivery to Gaza etc. Looks like this dubious plan will eventuate with UNRWA banished. Israel is determined to OWN Palestinian life, incl level of food and medical support. There's no accountability in an undemocratic despotic state.

This should not surprise anyone. Israel is a government of absolute lunatics as pointed out by Prof. Norman Finkelstein. Israel firmly believes that the only way to resurrect the deterrence factor they lost on October 7th, is to either pretend to be crazy or to be crazy. I back the latter, with this story being a perfect example. Their constant escalation in this war (Hamas>Hezbollah>Iran) is all the proof needed to confirm this.

While I know there is no answer to this question, I wonder what the reaction by the U.S. people would have been if Israel had been honest and said, our ultimate goal is to destroy Iran. Not that Biden and all the others would have listened...
