As a Jewish-American named after a Holocaust victim, I'm appalled and ashamed that Israel, founded by Holocaust survivors, is committing a genocidal holocaust in Gaza aided and abetted by the Biden administration. The lack of humanity is an affront to the memory of Jimmy Carter and should never be supported by a modern, so-called -civilized, democratic nation. It's a disgrace and a blot on Joe Biden's legacy.

The occupation may, nay, must end. They can never make amends for what they have done.

We can only go forward, not with retribution, but with the promise that this time, “Never Again,” means never, for anyone, anywhere. And means we will no longer permit our governments, to commit murder against anyone, anywhere. Thank you for your article.

They should erect a Palestinian holocaust monument in GAZA and Washington DC.

Palestinian leadership is what we need to go forward. Free Marwan Barghouti, the Palestinian Mandela!

I would like to respond with an excerpt from "Gaza Writes Back". Essay by Sarah Ali. Editor: Refaat Alareer

"...That an Israeli soldier could bulldoze 189 olive trees on the Land he claims is part of 'the God-given Land' is something I will never comprehend. Did he not consider the possibility that God might get angry? Did he not realize it was a tree he was running over? If a Palestinian bulldozer were ever invented (Ha-ha, I know!) and I were given the chance to be in an orchard, in Haifa, for instance, I would never uproot a tree that an Israeli planted. No Palestinian would. To Palestinians, the tree is sacred, and so is the Land bearing it......

By uprooting plants and cutting trees continually, Israel tries to break that bond and impose its own rules of despair on Palestinians. By replanting their trees over and over again, Palestinians are rejecting Israel's rules."

I honor the work you are doing. Thank you.

The maniacal brutality displayed by the present Israeli government is totally appalling! I don't expect the so-called ceasefire to move beyond stage 1.

There is hardly any commentary on what the Palestinian Resistance truly thinks about this ceasefire. But I can't imagine that they aren't prepared for the IDF to unleash hell upon them once the exchange of hostages takes place. The timing of this deal is suspect and very convenient for The Trump. Keep your eyes and ears open.

Thank you for the article it is well written and truthfully conveys the appalling conditions of the survivors left in Gaza. The depraved colonial support of the genocide of the Palestinian people and the lack of humanity so apparent in global politicians has impressed on me the irrefutable evidence of the strength of the Palestinian people. They have endured unbelievable adversity but have not given up the dream of their own homeland. This genocide and destruction of historic Palestine is far worse than what the Nazis did in the Holocaust which is unbelievable. The world stood back then and allowed that tragedy to occur. Now the global politicians/elite are active participants in yet another death and destruction campaign which could eventually result in similiar depraved actions imposed on their own people in due course.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the United States tried and executed German and Japanese officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity. At Nuremberg, at the end of WW II, some 82 years, ago we stood against murder and genocide, now we stand for it.

During WW II, the Nazi government/military created a ghetto in Warsaw, Poland, and put nearly a half-million Jews into an area about 1.5 sq mi (much smaller than Gaza, at 141 sq mi). The conditions there were brutal; probably similar to those in Gaza. The Jews were shot, starved, dehumanized, and sent off to death camps. You might think of it as an “open-air prison” - like Gaza is often described. A number of Jews made the choice to die on their feet rather than live on their knees, and so they rebelled and attacked their German tormentors (like the Palestinian’s did to their Israeli tormentors on Oct 7th). As if in reprisals, the Nazis did their best to rid themselves of all the Jews in the ghetto; killing, starving, and sending many off to the death camps. That was some 80+ years ago. Since that time, I have NEVER heard anyone say, nor have I seen in print, a statement like “The Nazis had a right to defend themselves.” The world will come to judge Israel and its people similar to how the world judged Nazi Germany and its people. A most appropriate judgement.

This writing is like poetry. So well conveys the emotional roller coaster that Palestinians are living on. There needs to be arms embargo against Israel. I am afraid Israel cannot be trusted to follow the conditions of the agreement. Please God make this cease fire last

Some Cease Fire eh!

If I were Palestinian, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Seeing is believing.

Sleazy, conniving, murderer; Netanyahoo can't be trusted, belongs in the lowest realms of hell, and NO COFFEE BREAKS!! He has corrupted and confused so many Israelis, Zionists and Jews around the world with his lies, crimes and outstanding PR. Of course there is the Whole World watching in horror. Personally, I think poison gas, beheading or firing squad is what he deserved. That's his warrior G-od encourages or demands. Of course that was thousands of years ago.

I think the statute of limitations has exceeded it's statute of limitation.

This is heartbreaking -- as is so much out of Gaza. It sounds trite, but I am immensely grateful to journalists like Hossam Shabat, and everyone at Drop Site for your continuous and eyes-open coverage. And I echo Jeremy Scahill's denunciation this week of Western media for their silence around the Israeli murders of so many journalists in Gaza. Desipicable.

March 18 2025: midnight in Palestine-night before ceasefire: From me in San Francisco, California:

As it always has,

The first blue California Lilac has begun to bloom over David’s fence.

It is a fence between old neighbors, green and dilapidated, but buttressed, standing -

The green soft wood has its own kind of beauty-meant for passing over plants, and songs and invitations-

Neighbors who share, and care, whose laughter and sadness is not entirely contained.

My happy grandaughter understands that love crosses fences, that is the way.

At 3 she does not remember the shower of blue petals that come in later spring.

I light candles for the children of Gaza: may they live to receive showers of petals and the love of their neighbors.

This is not a war-it is a slaughter, so heart wrenching. Vengeance and hate. My tax dollars have gone to this genocide. And to what end? History will not look kindly upon us.
