Their keyword search indicates their idea of government waste includes anything that helps those people who need help most. That's pretty much all that FEMA does, so from now on, don't be in a flood, earthquake, hurricane, tornado, fire, or volcanic eruption, or you're too woke.

Which agency normally has the oversight of FEMA'S finances?

What blows me away is how many people are complying because they are afraid they will lose their jobs… hey guys… yall gonna get axed any day now, take a stand.

It’s not life or death, you’ll get on unemployment, and it’s gonna happen soon for many of them. Capitulating so easily is just gonna make the bulldozing all the easier. I know it’s easy for me to say, but my lord.

They're also afraid of getting doxxed and targeted for violence, and it's hard to argue with that.

Complicity only makes things worse for themselves and countless others. File a complaint with your congress person. Secrecy is the friend of perverts and abusers. Filing a complaint provides a record that the pervert cannot hide from. If you don't trust your one congressional representative, pick one you trust. Admittedly, there are few I trust. Both parties seem very corrupt.

Such unauthorized, illegal acts must be stopped, the perpetrators charged and subjected to a proper court trial. As should those under whose authority people like Kyle Schutt acted.

That’s great news! Hopefully all the money will go towards disaster relief now!

You're joking, right? All the money is going to be split between Elon and Trump.... and several other billionaires, I suppose.

🤣

Before you make statements like that, you might want to do some research. Unfounded statements mean nothing..

Kyle Schutt is not a government employee. He does not work for us as our employee. If we are going to run the federal government as a business, we, as employers have the power to hire and fire. We did not hire Elon Musk. He is not doing business in our name. We are the government. We should start acting like we care about our business. To have a successful business is to be involved.

The PARTIES are the real government, and they are in the hire of the oligarchs not to represent their rank and file voters.

Constitutionally, the power to raise and spend money (to tax and to make appropriations) rests with Congress, not the President, and certainly not an unelected maniac. Anyone else thinking about refusing to pay taxes until Congress' appropriations power is respected again?

Great idea! But how do you not pay taxes if you're retired or otherwise not receiving taxable income? But I love the idea and think that organizing such a movement or incorporating it into a broader movement is overdue.

It would also be difficult for the vast majority of people who pay their income taxes through payroll withholding. I'm still thinking about how it could work. But I've got a slogan, which is obviously the most important part:

No Taxation for Misappropriations!

Expand full comment

One way to do it through payroll is to report that you have lots of dependents. That lessens your liabilities and might even eliminate them. Then when reporting time comes and you have to be straight, you just don't pay what you owe. Hope that's clear.

Great work, Jessica. Keep the info coming. While most employees are afraid of losing their jobs, others are providing you with documents. I admire all of you.

“Deobligation” , for real? We know words are concepts but this falls into the “concept of a plan” category!

We’ve had our time for shock and hand ringing. It is now time for action. On February 28 there will be a consumer boycott. Preferably we will not buy anything, but if we have to, we will go to local businesses.

On March 7-14 there will be a boycott of Amazon. If we can’t manage to do these things, then all is lost and we should stop complaining.

Expand full comment

Most people don't know about any such boycotts. Just how do you intend to inform a critical mass? Run a headline in the New York or LA Times whores-for-hire "newspapers?" Post on Cluckerberg's Facebook or Muskmelon's "X?" The do-nothing Democratic Party sure as he-- isn't going to organize it, communicate it, or support it.

When do line employees get tasked with making policy and following said policy?

Contact your elected officials. Every day. With every new insult to our constitution. Take a half hour every day to call their offices. Visit their offices if possible. 500 people in their lobby may get them to take some action.

> When asked, union representatives told FEMA employees they “didn’t think it was appropriate to mention” who fired the employees and how.

Yellow Union. Maybe it's time for union workers in the federal government to clean house and become more militant, because they're not protecting their members

"didn’t think it was appropriate to mention” Translation: I'm so scared I'm peeing my pants.

To all government workers: strike. Walk of your jobs and hit the streets in protest. Strike or die.

Expand full comment

If they strike, they can be *legally* fired and have no recourse. Many of the current firings are illegal and there is some hope of successful legal challenges, and the collection of unemployment.

Federal labor law doesn't allow federal workers to strike. Just one more way the field is tilted toward management.

They can, however, picket on their own time, and I'm sure would welcome people to show up at a picket line.
