If she doesn't turn it around and come out against genocide she won't get my vote. Shit ain't complicated. There isn't wiggle room on this one. Even from a purely sociopathic political angle, the zionists have aligned themselves with Republicans and Trump. You can't oppose Trump without opposing genocide. This should be a no brainer.

We so need ranked choice voting in the U.S. so badly. People could vote their top candidate and/or conscience while recognizing that the second ranked candidate (warts and all) is less damaging to their interests than the third ranked.

We need a lot of things. An end to partisan gerrymandering, to voter intimidation, to illegally purged voter lists, and possibly as you say ranked choice voting. But we have an election coming up in less than 4 months and none of these will pertain. I have to play with the cards I'm dealt.

Understand the wisdom in your comment. All of those things are possible if we win the Senate with Democrats who will abolish the filibuster.

Notice if your candidates, beyond the Pres/VP will do that if elected. Lots of Dems in the House are resigned to 4 more years of Trump.

I will vote for all that I can in good conscience.

We need Dr. Jill Stein. Wouldn't that put a, a, a monkey wrench in the elites' punchbowl?

Expand full comment

Dr. Stein will never be president and she's nothing but an egotistical poser and spoiler. She's no different than Ralph Nader, who allowed Bush to become president. There's no Joy in US if Trump wins.

Giving the "elites" their comeuppance, although appealing, is pretty far down my list.

Was Biden not in lockstep with Netanyahu?

Also, can we have a space on the internet where the discourse is above phrases like "bee bee nuttyahoo"? We've got a rich and serious space for journalism here that isnt happening in many other places. It's going to be depressing if the comments devolve into this type of thing in the first week that this site is online.

Harris' unconditional support for the rogue state of Israel alone, should result in her defeat if one reads the dissatisfaction of the public with Bidens' stand on Israel, accurately. Too many are sick and tired of being told by party hacks like Pelosi, that "we have an "unbreakable bond" with Israel" or that we have a "special relationship" with this apartheid, genocidal, band of land thieves. WE DO NOT! "The people" DID NOT VOTE on either of these two 'manufactured claims'!!!

Exactly correct!

--and when you get through puking over that one, focus a bit on the Senate, that worthless 'extra' legislature, where the 'leader' has PUBLICLY STATED that he feels that "gawd chose him to be Israel's 'protector' in the Senate". Not a bad showing for a group which represents barely 2% of the population. Who runs YOUR GOVERNMENT???? Damn sure isn't "the people".

The dissatisfaction with Biden was due to his age. He's been an utter pussy with Israel and I don't expect that to change. I can see Harris, when she's actually in charge, do something different and perhaps embargo future arms. But she needs to win the damn election first.

I’m old enough to remember 1968 and how Humphrey was hamstrung by LBJ’s Vietnam policy. Hard to distant yourself from the one who brought you to the dance. Even if Harris wants to differentiate herself from Biden on Gaza, she is too beholden to AIPAC and won’t risk it. She has a very difficult needle to thread to win back the uncommitted without losing an equal number of pro-Israel voters.

We will definitely get to see her at the dance tomorrow with Netanyahu. Or maybe she will skip the party, after she, too, comes down with a sudden case of COVID?

I’m certainly not optimistic that a Harris administration would, in any meaningful way, deviate from the current U.S. policy toward Israel. There are far too many domestic political campaign contributions to preserve and cultivate. In the meantime, Palestinian civilians will continue to pay with their lives.

The media is suggesting the popular Governor’s of Mi and PA, as running mates to win back Arabs, young people and progressives.

Neither of these Governor’s have spoken out against the Holocaust underway today in Gaza. They refuse to call it a genocide when asked by national American news pundits.

Today Israel has announced that 400,000 people who are homeless and starving to death must move, yet again.

Jeremy, thank you for this report, which I badly needed. It is shocking that so many groups and members of Congress have immediately jumped onto the Harris bandwagon. I cannot vote for a person who supports and enables Israel's genocide in Gaza and its escalating murderous rampages in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. I cannot vote for a person who automatically and invariably supports Israel's actions, no matter how heinous those actions may be. I cannot vote for a person who, when Israel is the aggressor, immediately flouts the international laws of war and humane treatment of civilians, but when it is Russia or another country they dislike, rush straightway to the courts in order to fully punish the miscreants. Such hypocrisy. The Democratic Party long ago lost its moral and ethical compass, and we all are paying the price.

Please keep in mind that Priority ONE is to defeat the Heritage Foundation and their idiot tool, trump. Please be careful when cautioning or criticizing the Democrats. who may be up against him & them. We Democrats are well known for picking apart our candidates which is a good thing, but maybe not now. Once the convention is done, we need to be a STRONG wall. I'm worried about this. Social media is on fire with arguments against Harris. Your title isn't helpful.

In our enmeshment in the Biden drama, let's not forget the massive failure to vote, by Democrats, that was anticipated over arming Israel. Now that we have this fresh start, let's not be as short-sighted as we were in crowning Biden, without primaries, and get people staying at home again by crowning Harris.

As the vice president, Harris has no choice but to go along with whatever policy Biden advocates. Unlike Biden, she's never declared herself to be a Zionist as far I know. She's younger, female, and a minority, so her views on Israel may well be quite different from those of Biden. She also has a strong environmental track record from her time in CA and strongly supports efforts to address climate change. There's no question in my mind that she would be 1000x better than Trump.
